Amazon's acquisition of Whole Foods Market...the introduction of a new Amazon Echo food service

Amazon's acquisition of Whole Foods Market was strategic and a preliminary introduction of a new Amazon service based on Amazon Echo...Amazon Echo "Master Chef" service.   The acquisition has very little to do with the entrance into the brick-and-mortar business...too small thinking for Amazon.  Amazon does not spend $1.5 billion dollars unless they know they can leverage their investment online and offline.

Amazon Echo "Master Chef" service

Amazon Echo is a great product!

It leads the powerful list of excellent chat-bot offerings such as Google Home, Microsoft's Cortana and Apple's Siri.  These in-home chat-bot consumer devcies have changed and will continue to change the culture and norm of how we behave at home.

Ten years ago, if we wanted to know the weather, we would watch the evening news or listen to the radio.  Up until 2014, we would use the internet to check our favorite weather website but today, we "ask Alexa" and she gives us the current temperature for any city on the planet at the moment plus what the weather will be in the upcoming week.  Amazing!

Our reliance upon chat-bots will increase over time, dramatically, and our conversations with these devices will go beyond simple questions.

For example, Amazon Echo Look is the best of Amazon Echo combined with the continuous AI advice from the best fashion designers in the world providing us with specific and personal fashion advice 24 hours a day without leaving the comfort and privacy of our home.

How did we get here...

When these 1st generation chat-bots were introduced back in 2014, American people accepted them without hesitation.  I was surprised that the American consumer's acceptance (only available in the US) was so uniformally positive and people acted like Amazon Echo was the cute little puppy that everyone had been talking about and finally they were able to take it home...for good.

The 1984 type paranoia of "Big Brother is watching"did not apply to the Amazon Echo family of products.  The continuing saga  and revelations of Edward Snowden and the persistance of Wiki Leaks revealing US and global government secrets, also does not affect the rise and permitation of Amazon Echo into our home.

Consumers ignore the fact that Amazon Echo is listening all the time.  Even if your water is running in the kitchen/bathroom, the kids are screamming, and other natural family noises, Amazon Echo will respond to your "Alexa" command without hesitation.  Amazing and freigthing but the relinquishment of family privacy is miniscule to the benefits of AI (artifical intelligence) driven chat-bot technology.

The new Amazon Echo "Master Chef" service

My prediction is that the new Amazon Echo "Master Chef" service will be offered in time for the Christmas 2017 holidays.  Just like how Amazon Look provides clothing and design recommendations from the world's top designers, Amazon Echo "Master Chef" service will provide cooking advice, recommendations and direct ordering capabilities driectly from a Whole Foods store to you in a few hours.

Famous chefs like Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver virtually available via the Amazon Echo platform will be the most significant kitchen appliance since the Mr. Coffee Café Barista Premium Espresso/Cappuccino System, turning single middle aged bachelors into potential husband material while their date waits with anticipation in the living room hoping that he has played it safe and ordered chinese food, again :)

Amazon Innovation

This Amazon innovation is the restructuring of the online/offline food business that says "if you can not offer direct food and cooking advice to the consumer 24 hours per day, in their home, on their request, and then deliver the food and/or ingredients, when they want it, where they want it, and how they have specifcially requested it...get out of the food business!

This is another Amazon declaration of war, this time targeted at the entire food industry, benefiting you and driven by Amazon's artificial intelligence that predicted that you needed this service before you did.

Innovation rocks!
